HO CHI MINH resented the french, but France was determined to take back colinies after World war II. U.S helped French. 1945-1954 a war started between french and Vietnam.On may 8th 1954, french surrendered. Multinational agreement divided Vietnam. North was lead by HO and a line was drawn. US helped south Vietnam and funded weapons.

United states started a program called operation rolling thunder. US bombed HO CHI MENH trail, going through Laos and CAmbodia. But Vietcong got aided by north Vietnam

Tet offense

Period: Dec 24, 1968 to Dec 25, 1968

over 80,000 Vietcong members attacked south Vietnam on Tet holiday, also Danang was attacked.
