A Timeline of Growing

  • birth to 18 months

    birth to 18 months
    From birth to 18 months of age babies will be begin to control their head, crawl, sit up without support, and pull themselves up to stand. They will develop grasping skills and engage in solitary play with no concept of sharing. Babies will be around 28-33.1inches and 18-26lbs.
  • 18-24 Months

    18-24 Months
    From 18-24 months children will be walking and begin to climb. They will develop self-feeding skills and simple co-operative play. They will be between 31-35.4 inches and 20-28.9lbs.
  • 2 to 3 Years

    2 to 3 Years
    Between the age of 2 and 3, children will fully be walking, running, and scribbling. They will become possessive of their personal belongings and will begin to sit at the family table for meals. They will be around 23-34.3lbs and 33-38.6 inches.
  • 3 to 5 Years

    3 to 5 Years
    Between 3 and 5 years of age children will begin to jump, hop, walk backwards, ride a tricycle, button clothes, brush teeth, and draw recognizable figures. They may develop imaginary friends and will become potty trained and develop a sense of "mine" and "yours". They will also begin to negotiate verbally and engage in complex co-operative play. Children between these ages will be 34-44.7lbs and 38-44.2inches.
  • 5 to 7 Years

    5 to 7 Years
    Between 5 and 7 years of age children will be able to throw and catch a ball, write sentences, and use scissors competently. They will become protective of younger children, become aware of different emotions, understand right versus wrong, begin primary school and after school activities. They will be between 44-56.8lbs and 41-49.5inches.
  • 7 to 10 Years

    7 to 10 Years
    Between the ages of 7 and 10 children will be able to develop a good sense of balance and grace in physical activities and sports, write in script, increase manipulative skills, work with peer and single-sex groups. They will be between 49-70.5lbs and 47-54.5inches.
  • 10 to 12 Years

    10 to 12 Years
    Between the ages of 10 and 12 children will begin to develop strength for games like tennis and soccer and play sports with increased skill. Children between these ages will develop a sense for privacy, become aware of the opposite sex. They will be between 70-88lbs and 54-57.8inches.
  • 12 to 14 Years

    12 to 14 Years
    During this time, children began to become teenagers and will be in middle school. A lot of physical changes to the body occur between these ages. They will be around 95-112.5lbs and 59-64.5inches.
  • 14 to 16 Years

    14 to 16 Years
    Teenagers will begin high school and will be aloud to get their driving permit at age 15 and license at age 16. Relationships may begin to form during these ages. They will continue to grow in height and weight.
  • 16 to 18 Years

    16 to 18 Years
    Teenagers will be in high school and or graduating high school and preparing for college. Teenagers will become adults when they turn 18. They will be able to become completely independent. Growing in height typically stops around these ages.
