Primaries
The first thing to win as a potential candidate is the party’s nomination. All the candidates must try to win as many primaries as possible and ultimately become the party’s presidential candidate. The primaries are held during the winter and spring of election year. -
Super Tuesday
Super Tuesday is the United States presidential primary election day in February or March when the greatest number of U.S. states hold primary elections and caucuses. Approximately one-third of all delegates to the presidential nominating conventions can be won on Super Tuesday, more than on any other day. The results on Super Tuesday are therefore a strong indicator of the likely eventual nominee of each political party. -
Choosing a Vice President nominee
Choosing the right running mate is important because the presidential nominee should be able to rely on and get advice from that person. Besides sharing the same political viewpoints and visions, the running mate should complement the candidate so they appear strong and reliable as a team. National Convention
The National Convention is the forum where the presidential nominee is officially announced as the party’s candidate. The conventions are to give the candidate lots of media attention and an opportunity to get his/her visions and plans out to the public. The conventions are usually held during the summer – a few months before the election.
