    Stopped the entry of Chinese immigrants into the US for ten years. This act was the first to establish the federal governments rights to restrict immigration based on nationalities.

    Time most restrictive acts were passed. They allowed the national governent not only the to exclude certain individuals, but also to deport aliens who entered the country in violation to these laws.
  • Quota Act of 1921

    This act limited the annual number of immigrants from each nationality ro 3 percent of the foreign born person of that nationality living in the US in 1910.
  • Immigration Act of 1924 and National Origins Act of 1929

    Established a new quote system for each nationality and a set limit on the total number of immigrants allowed entery at all.

    Illegal aliens who could prove that they had been in the country for the last 5 years could apply to obtain a temorary legal residency liceance. Eighteen months later, they could apply fo rthe permanent residentcy. Eventually, they could apply for citizenship.

    It denied public social services, publicly funded aircare, and public edjucation to all people who were being suspected of being illegal aliens

    Prohibited immigrants, including legal immigrants who were not citizens yet, from recieving most forms of public assistance.
