French and Indian War
The war was fought by the French and Britain. The Indians joined the French but they didn't win the war. Soon after the war ended Britain went into debt and then had to collect taxes. -
Stamp Act of 1765
The money collected by the Stamp Act was to be used to help pay the costs of defending and protecting the American frontier near the Appalachian Mountains.
The Stamp Act was viewed as a direct attempt by England to raise money in the colonies without the approval of the colonial legislatures. -
Sons of Liberty
Sons of liberty formed a smaller protest groups in response of the Stamp Act. The first group was made into "The Loyal Nine". -
Boston Massacre

Boston Tea Party
It was a protest by the American Colonists against the British in regards to the tea taxes that had been imposed on them.
It was estimated that approximately 90% of the tea being drank by American colonists was smuggled in. Coffee drinking increased as a result of boycotts on British tea. -
Battle of Lexington and Concord

Declaration of Independence Adopted
The declaration was signed at the Pennsylvania State House, Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration and John Hancock was the first to sign it. -

Battle of Yorktown
The last major land battle of the American Revolutionary War. The Continental Army, led by General George Washington, won against the British Army. The battle took place in Yorktown, Virginia, near the York River. -
Treaty of Paris signed
The treaty was signed to formally end the revolutionary war. Also for the British to acknowledge that the United States had independence and boundaries were established. -
3/5 Compromise
It was between the Northern and Southern states of the US. The compromise was during a debate about whether slaves should be counted when a state was making its total number for legislative and tax purposes or not. -
Great Compromise
It was an agreement between large and small states in order to figure out how much power there should be with the Constitution. link text -
Constitution is Ratified
The first state to ratify the constitution was Delaware on December 7, 1787. Those who favored the ratification convinced that the rejection of the constitution would result in anarchy and civil strife. -
Bill of Rights Adopted
The First Amendment shows the freedom of religion, speech, and the press, the rights of peaceful assembly and petition for the people.
