French and Indian war
A struggle between the French and British in 1755-1763. in this conflict the French and British were fighting for control over the land in Canada. In the end the British won and a treaty was signed in which the French gave the Canadian land to the British. -
Proclamation of 1763
After the French and Indian war the colonists wanted to move westward but the threat from the Indians killing them was a problem so King George in 1763 drew a line down the appellations and said we stay to the east and the Indians stay to the west. This was the Proclamation of 1763 -
stamp act
the stamp act was when the british government started to pay off their debt and enacted a law or act that stated you had to by a stamp every time you bought a piece off paper. -
boston massacre
after some time the colonists got angry at the british and there started a riot in this riot british soldiers fired at the rioters and killed 5 people and injured 10 others. -
bostom tea party
after a new tax was set on tea the PATRIOTS took action in going and raiding the tea ships taking and throwing overboard 342 chests of tea in the course of 3 hours. -
the intolerable acts
the intolerable acts were after the boston tea party and were meant to punish them. the acts closed down boston ports until the tea was payed for. the rest were designed to restrict and place massachusetts under a firm grip. -

50 leaders from 12 colonies met in philadelphia to form the first continental congress wher people like patrick henry urged them to unite as a country -
second continental congress
the second continental congress managed the CONTINENTAL ARMY and gave instructions, help and information to GEORGE WASHINGTON. -

declaration of independance
the declaration of independence was written by THOMAS JEFFERSON and in which it states that that the thirteen colonies are separate from the british empire. although the idea of independence was un-popularized until a pamphlet called COMMON SENSE was released. after this the document had enuf support and was sent to KING GEORGE III. after the document was sent another was sent the OLIVE BRANCH PETITION to calm king george and make peace but king george had already ordered war onto the colonies -

a rebellion led by a farmer named daniel shay. the rebellion was to prevent congress from taking their land after they could not pay their debts. -

the constitutional convention was a convention ,after the articles of confederation failed, to write a new constitution during the convention. the convention lasted all summer. one of their main topics was how the slave population was to be counted toward state population eventually there was compromise that the slaves not be counted as one person nor property but as three fifths a person this is known as the THREE FIFTHS COMPROMISE. -

bill of rights
the bill of rights was written after the RATIFICATION of the constitution as a promise to the citizens of the united states because the constitution did not show the rights of the people or the restrictions of the government. the bill of rights was greatly impacted by the MAGNA CARTA a bill of rights for the english made in 1265.
