    Columbus saild the ocean blue in 1492

    Columbus sails the ocean blue in 1492. He actually sailed to the Bahamas but he thought it was India while he was there he met the people of the islands and named them Indians because of the idea that he was in India.

  • Jamestown settlement

    104 men sailed to North America in 1607 to colonize America. They started building in a place that is now called Jamestown Virginia, it was named after King James the I/
  • French and Indian War

    The French and Indian war started because of fights over territory and trading routes along the Ohio river. The British and the French fought each other with the help of Indians. The British won that war taking most of the French territories in 1763.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The British Empire put a tax on tea which made the American colonists mad because it was "Taxation without representation". So they threw 342 crates of tea into the Boston harbor. This sets in motion the American Revolution.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the kick off to the American Revolution. It's the "Shot Heard 'Round the World"
  • Declaration of independence

    The Declaration of Independence was signed in 1776 at the Pennsylvania house in Philadelphia which later became known as the Independence Hall. The Declaration of Independence was the signifying of America's freedom.
  • The Battle of Yorktown

    The Battle of Yorktown was the last battle of the American revolution between America and the British Empire which lasted three weeks. General Cornwallis surrendered to George Washington who was not President at the time.

    The Constitutional Convention was the writing, editing, and signing of the Constitution. It started May 23, 1787 and ended in September 17, 1787.
  • Invention of the Cotton Gin

    The Cotton Gin was invented to speed up the production of cotton by efficiently removing cotton seeds from the fiber.

    The Alien Sedition Acts were a set of four laws applying restrictions to immigration and speech

    In 1803 the U.S purchased 828,000 square miles of land from France for $15 million. This helped us to largely expand the nation westward.

    The War of 1812 was fought by America and it's allies against British North America with limited participation from Spain. America started the war of 1812 to expand into Indian British and Spanish territories. Also they wanted to end British influence North America.

    It was a line drawn from east to west along the 36th parallel dividing the Nation into competing halves- half free, half slave.

    Andrew Jackson was elected President two terms in a row.

    The Trail of Tears was the forced displacements of 60,000 indigenous people of the "Five Civilized Tribes" between 1830 and 1850

    Morse invented the first telegraph that went from Washington, DC to Baltimore. The first message sent was "What hath God Wrought"

    The U.S declared war on Mexico in 1836. Some causes for this was that Mexico would not grant Texas it's freedom, the desire of Texans for statehood, and the U.S wanted to expand westward.

    It was a package of 5 bills passed by the Unites States Congress that defused a confrontation between slave and free states on the status of territories acquired in the Mexican-American War.
  • The Firing on Fort Sumter

    It was the bombardment on Fort Sumter by the South Carolina militia. It lasted a day and ended with the surrender of the U.S Army. It was the start of the American Civil War.
  • The Emancipation Proclamation

    3 years into the Civil War Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation that gave slaves their freedom.
  • 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments

    The Reconstruction amendments also known as the (Civil War Amendments) gave rights and protections to African American citizens. They were passed between 1865 and 1870
  • Surrender at Appomattox Courthouse

    General Robert E Lee surrendered his confederate army to the Union at the end of the Civil War.
  • Abraham Lincolns Assassination

    Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in the Petersen House in Washington D.C. This happened because Lincoln took away slavery and the Confederacy wasn't happy.
  • Andrew Johnsons impeachment

    Andrew Johnsons impeachment was carried out in 1868 by the House of Representatives because of "High crimes and misdemeanors".

    In 1863 John D. Rockefeller formed the Standard Oil Trust. He built the company through 1868 and two years later he bought all the competition and formed one big company called "Standard Oil Company"

    March 7, 1876, Bell was granted US patent 174465A which allowed him to make the first telephone.
  • Invention of Electric Light

    Milano Park in New Jersey Edison Made the first Incandescent light bulb.
  • Homestead Strikes

    It was a battle of workers or (strikers) against private security men in the labor industry.
  • The Pullman Strikes

    Widespread railroad strike and boycott that led the U.S Government to use the first ever injunction to stop a strike.
  • The Spanish-American War

    The war between America and Spain began after the USS Maine exploded in Havana Harbor leading to the U.S intervention in the Cuban war.
  • Theodore Roosevelt becomes President

    At age 42 Theodore Roosevelt is elected President after McKinley was assassinated.
  • The Airplane

    Orville and Wilbur Wright invented the first flying vehicle that was propelled by it's own power and that could descend without taking damage.
