  • Jul 12, 1492

    Christopher Columbus "finding" the Americas

    Christopher Columbus accidentally "discovered" the Americas trying to find a direct water source from Europe to Asia.
    His "finding" sparked a colonizer craze lasting centuries.
  • Jamestown settlement

    Virginia company founds the first lasting English settlement
  • The French and Indian war

    Also referred to as the seven-year war, the event marked another chapter Britan and France bitterness what started off as smaller battles soon shifted into far more after Britan declaring war in 1756
  • Boston tea party

    Massachusetts colonists board and raid three British tea ships, dumping 342 tea chests into the Boston harbor
  • The Battle of Lexington and Concord

    start of the revolutionary war
    British troops marched from Boston to nearby Concord
    Paul Revere and other midnight riders were quick to alert the townspeople

    Invented and patented by Eli Whitney, made to remove the seeds from the cotton, being Americas biggest export. Though very successful, the creator did not make much money from it due to issues with patent infringement

    Four laws passed when John Adams was in office, for fear of a war starting with Frace. Made to reduce foreign influence and culture, make it harder to question the government, and limited foreign activities and speech

    Unites states stages war with Great Britan attempting to cut off trades to the US in an attempt to stop them from expanding their land
