After 18 years the famous, very anonymous Unabomber was finally caught. He had spent lots of time speaking only though his bombs but after the Oklahoma City bombs- attacks that where not him, he wanted more attention. 9/11 Terrorist Attack
September 11, 2001 is one of the saddest days in America’s history. It led to many changes in simple things like airport security and not such simple subjects- discrimination of races or cultures, particularly Muslims. October 2, 2002, the United States Congress passes a resolution giving the President of the U.S. the authority to use the military forces of the country as he thinks necessary. This was informally known as the Iraq resolution and is what prompted the United States into entering the “war on terrorism”. This resolution is the reason many people died- but although many senators and congressmen will deny it now, at the time they where fully supporting this joint resolution. -

December 13, 2003, Saddam Hussein the former dictator of Iraq was captured. This event was very well publicized and made many American people feel safer after 9/11. When captured Saddam had longer hair and beard then he had previously let the public perceive him. This capture was a large step in the war on terror and just increased peoples support for the war, this was probably the high point of Americas time in Iraq. -
Hurricane Katrina
August 29, 2005 Hurricane Katrina was one of the deadliest and most destructive natural disasters ever strike America. This hurricane wiped out much of New Orleans, and caused serve destruction from central Florida all the way up the gulf coast to Texas. New Orleans was such a big issue because the levee system broke, flooding 80% of the city with rainwaters that stayed in the streets for weeks. Obama Supports Same Sex Marriage
May 7, 2012 Obama became the first president to support same sex marriage. This was a monumental step for the gay rights movement. Gay rights have been a growing issue in the US, getting more and more press each year. Having such a monumental figure, such as the president, supporting them gives them much more pull among politicians across the country. Hopefully this support will eventually make gay peoples marriage rights completely equal to same sex couples.
