    Cheif Little Turtle
    britannicaChief Little Turtle was born in 1747. He was a Miami Indian. Chief defeated a small force snetby president Washington. Washington sent forces to stop attacks on settlers. In 1791 in the Ohio River Valley , British troops help a group of many American Indian nations, again led by Chief Litlle Turtle, to crush a larger American force commanded by General Arthur St. Clair.

    TreatyAfter the British defeat at Yorktown, peace talks began in Paris in April 1782. The Treaty of Paris gave the United States a lot of new land west of the Appalachin Mountains.The treaty ended the revolutionary war and stated American Independance.

    Federalists & the Democratic Republicans both agreed that the U.S. We're too weak to stand up against Britain & France which helped because it not being in war raised American imports & increased taxes for goods that were imported. If the United States would have went to war it would've bankrupt the federal government. President Washington issued that Prclamation of American Neutrality to keep peace.

    August 1794 federal troops were led by Generaal Anthony Wayne who defeated the American Indians. The site of the battle was named for the fallen trees that covered the battle site. HIs victory gained much of what would become Indiana and Ohio and forced the indians to accept his peace terms.

    JaysJays treaty is between the United States and Great Britian. America had to talke care of all pre-revolutionary war debts to the British merchants. British had to leave the Norhtwest Territory by June 1, 1796. The British had to pay the U.S merchants all the money they caused the merchants for keeping restrictions on American ships. The United States got trading privileges with England and the British West Indies. The Mississippi River was open to both the U.S and the British.

    This Treaty is Between U.S and Spain. America could temporarily store their goods, tax free in New Orleans. Spain had control over the Mississippi River and New Orelans. Americans could freely navigate the Mississippi River in Spanish Territory. The Southern Boundary of the U.S was set at 31 degrees North latitude. Both U.S and Spain can navigate the sea's freely.This treaty established the Northern Boundary of Spanish Florida.

He left behind the achievements of American Indians being defeated, western lands opened to settlement, and the whiskey rebels suppressed, he kept the nation out of the war in Europe. Before his retirement he gave a political speech to avoid alliances to not lead to overseas wars.

    The Alien act authorized the President to arrest and deport non-citizens who talked bad about the federal government. The Federalists made it hard for non-citizens to become citizens because they supported the democratic republicans.

    sedition The Sedition act made it a crime to publicly talk bad about the government.The act did allow jury members to find a defendant not guilty who could prove the literal truth of their statements. That still put the burden of proof on the defendant. This reversed the tradition of finding someone innocent until proven guilty. In the end the government convivted 10 men of sedition.

    XYZThe Jay Treaty of 1794 offended the French and they felt as if it was betrayal of their 1778 treaty of alliance with the United States. In 1796 French began seizing American merchant ships to show their irritation. Adams sent representatives to Paris to negotiate peace. Three French officials know in code as X, Y, Z, demanded humuliating terms including $250,000 in bribes. After that Adams decided to break off negotiations.This affair roused public sentiment against France.
