The Lousiana Purchase
The Louisiana territory was purchased from France by Thomas Jefferson for $15 million. It is regarded as the largest purchase of land in American History at 827,000 square miles. -
Lewis and Clark
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark were tasked with exploring the territory west of the Missouri River. Their expedition resulted in the creation of the Oregon trail and the eventual claim of the Oregon Territory for the Unites States. -

The First Telegraph
