    Proclamation
    This proclamation did not allow colonists to settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. The British government feared the conflict between colonists and Native Americans would lead to another war. They also could not afford to pay British troops to defend the western lands. Colonists were enraged by this proclamation because they felt they had won the right to settle in the Ohio River Valley after winning the French and Indian War.

    Stamp Act
    In 1765, parliment passed the Stamp Act. This law requiered all legal and commercial documents to carry an official stamp showing that a tax had been paid. Britian did this because they needed money to fight in their own war.

    The Quartering Act was a cost-saving measure that required the colonies to quarter, or house, British soldiers. The colonists provide them with supplies, the soldiers were rude and disrespectful to the people. King George III, the British monarch, did this to enforce prclamation and also to keep piece with Britian's Native American allies

    In the Townshend Acts, a series of laws passed by Parliment in 1767 that suspended New York's assembly and established taxes on goods brought into British colonies.They did this to revenue in the colonies. These series of laws were named for Charles Townshend, a British Chancellor.
  • Tea Act and Boston Tea Party

    Tea Act and Boston Tea Party
    Tea was very popular in the colonies, but much of it was smuggled in from Holand. The Tea Act gave the Boston East India company control over the American tea trade. To protest against the Tea Act, the Boston Sons of Liberty organized the Boston Tea Party. It's the dumping of 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor by colonists.

    Lexington and Concord were the first battles of the Revolutionary War . As Ralph Emerson later wrote, colonial troops had fired the "shot heard 'round the world." The conflict between the 2 sides divided the communities, families, and friends. The war was on!

    In July 1775, Americans send the Olive Branch Petition to Britian's King. they were asking him to restore harmony between Britian and colonies. The king rejects the petition and blocks American ships from leaving their posts, then he sends Hessisians, hired German soldiers, to fight in America.

    Declaration of Independence
    It was a document written in 1776, in which the colonies declared independance from Britian. There was a comitee assigned to write a draft. The comitee included Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, Robert Livingston, and Thomas Jefferson. This was the day America started.
