  • Boston Tea Party

    On that evening, a group of men who called themselves "Sons of Liberty" had gone to the Boston Harbor dressed up as Mohawk Indians.They got on 3 different ships and dumped 45 tons of tea into the Boston Harbor.
  • First Continental Congress meets

    A convention of delegates from twelve British North American colonies that met on September 5, 1774, at Carpenters' Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, early in the American Revolution. It was called in response to the passage of the Coercive Acts l by the British Parliament. The Intolerable Acts had punished Boston for the Boston Tea Party.
  • Final draft of the Consitution is signed

    Members of the Constitutional Convention signed the final draft of the Constitution. Two days earlier, when a final vote was called, Edmund Randolph called for another convention to carefully review the Constitution as it stood.
  • Declaration of Rights and grivances is passed

    ), was a statement adopted by the First Continental Congress on October 14, 1774, in response to the Intolerable Acts passed by the British Parliament. The Declaration outlined colonial objections to the Intolerable Acts, listed a colonial bill of rights, and provided a detailed list of grievances. It was similar to the Declaration of Rights and Grievances, passed by the Stamp Act Congress a decade earlier.

It was said that they were going to discuss governmental duties, and to unite colonies to prepare for war. They were organizing an army and planning to make George Washington as commander in cheif.

    There was a total of 56 delagates that signed the document. it states that the 13 American colonies were considered independant states, and no longer any part of the British Empire.
  • Articles of Confederation are signed

    All of the states represenatives in Congress were there suring the signing of the Articles of Confederation. there were 16 who signed it and also the Declaration of Independence. A copy was sent to each state to have.
  • Revolutionary War ends

    The Revolutionary War finally ended only when the treaty of peace was signed by the British in Paris in 1783. It technically lasted for five years. Actually the American Revolutionary War did not start on one fine day or end in the same manner.
