English and French
Both claimed area's of Canada. French explorers, settlers and Missionaries founded cities. The most important were Quebec and Montreal.

Declaration of Independence
The colinists declared their independence. But it wasn't until 1783 that Great Britain recognized it and the U.S. was born -
The U.S. Constitution
The U.S. Constitution was written to create a government. Principles were followed, like Seperation of Powers, to achieve the writers' goals of a government. -
Bill of Rights
10 ammendments with the purpose of preventing the government from taking away the peole's freedoms. -
Abraham Licoln Elected
Because Licoln opposed slavery, his election caused the southern states to seperate and create their own nation. This led to the Civil War. -
Dominian of Canada
Most colinies became a dominion so Canada had it's own government to run local affairs. -
The Womens Rights
Women won support to be treated equal and in1920, an ammendment was passed allowing women to vote. -
Seperatist Movement
French-speaking citizens of Quebec want to seperate from English-speaking Canada to create their own country. This will allow Quebec to maintain their French culture.
