The Great Depression
The Great Depression was an economic downturned that left millions of Canadians in trouble and suffering.
Consequence: social and economic shock to all Canadian's, left millions of Canadians hungry, unemployed and homeless due to the lack of jobs
Cause: widespread drops in world commodity prices and declines in economic demand and credit, leading to rapid declines in global trade and rising unemployment. During this time people woulsnt be able to afford healthcare because of the lack of jobs. -
Hospital Insurance and Diagnostic Services Act
Cause: to promote healthy canadians and have no financial barriers allowing them to acesss the healthcare they needed without worrying about the high cost that they may not be able to afford.
Consequence: there are a lot of Canadians which can affect how much money doctors are recieving -
Canada Health Act
This is an act that puts in place conditions which individual provinces and territories in Canada can recieve funding for health care services.
Cause: Helps people out with health care because its free and Canadians no longer need to worry about not being able to afford their own indididual health care
Consequence: could not result in doctors not getting paid enough, because now they were getting paid from the government instead of indivudals. -
Canada Health and Social Transfer
This was a system to block transfer payments from the Canadian government to provincial goverments to pay for their health care and post secondary. Cause: helps pay for health care and education.
Consequence: could mean increases taxes -
Lester B Pearson
When Lester B Pearson was elected as the Prime Minester he made many changes to the Canadian government which impacted our lives now
Cause: volenterred as a service for the University of Toronto Health Care Assisiations Consequence; he became prime minister and introduced the universal health care system
