  • Signing of the Declaration of Independence

    The colonies were no longer under rule by England and were finally allowed freedom.

  • The Adoption of The Articles of Confederation

    The Articles were adopted by the Continental Congress and was the first written form of government that the US had. The Articles were in effect from 1781-1789 because the present day Constitution was written and enacted.

  • The British Surrender at Yorktown

    General Charles Cornwallis surrendered his troops in Yorktown, Virginia. He had 8,000 troops with him at that battle.

  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion was a series of protests about the enforcement of state and local tax collections. Also for judgements of debt. There was no specific date for the protests/rebellion it was a time period from 1786-1787.

  • Constitutional Convention

    The Constitutional Convetion was when representatives from each state would come to Independence Hall, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to dicuss the nation's problems. It was from May 25- September 17 1787.

  • Ratification of the United States Constitution

    This was the finalization of the Constitution so that we could be freed from British rule.

  • Ratification of the Bill of Rights

    Three fourths of the legislative votes constituted the first 10 amendments of the Constitution. Also known as the Bill of Rights.

  • Patent for the Cotton GIn

    The cotton gin was made to help the slaves produce more cotton everyday. The cotton gin was ten times faster than the slave doing all of the work

  • Lewis and Clark Expedition

    This is when Lewis and Clark set out on an adventure to explore the newly bought Lousiana Territory. The trip lasted from May 14, 1804 to September 23, 1806.

  • First Mill Built

    The first textile mill was ready to open in Lowell, Massachusetts and women worked there.

  • Trail of Tears

    The Trail of Tears was when the Cherokee were removed from their homes and sent Wesward. This removal was under Andrew Jackson's presidency. May 23, 1838 to March 1, 1839.

  • FInding Gold at Sutter's Mill

    This is when miners found gold in California in the early section in January in 1848 but didn't tell anyone because they might steal the gold.

  • Signing the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

    This treaty ended the war with Mexico and added the land of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

  • The Battle of Fort Sumter

    The invasion and surrender of Fort Sumter near Charleston, South Carolina. Which started the American Civil War.

  • The Battle of Gettysburg

    This battle is said to be one of the most important during the American Civil War. After a victory over the Union from Chancellorsville, General Robert E. Lee marched his troops from Virgina to Pennsylvania.

  • The Battle of the Little Bighorn

    This was when the Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho tribes all fought against the 7th Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army.

  • The Great Depression

    The Great Depression is when the stock market crashed on October 27, 1929. It lasted ten years to 1939. Span- October 27, 1929- 1939.

  • Apollo 11 Moon Landing

    This is when the first humans went onto the moon and landed successfully .

  • 9/11 Attacks

    Planes were crashed into the twin towers, pentagon, world trade center, and it is believed that the fourth plane was headed towards the white house but passengers aboard the plane fought the hijackers.

  • Kayla's Birthday

    The day I was born.

  • Inauguration of President Barack Obama

    This was the day that Barack Obama was sworn in as President of the United States for his first term.
