    The trail of tears happened when Andrew Jackson threw out the indians. He used the Indian Removal Act and made the indians leave their land. Some fought back, and some just left peacfully. Hastings thought that there was a quicker way of getting to the place they needed to be so they took a different path. There was a huge blizzard and they had to stop and make camp.     James Wilson Marshall was in California and discovers gold flakes in the American River. The word was spread and the crazy Gold Rush has happened. Miners found more than 750,000 pounds of gold.
