Louisiana Territory stretched from the Mississippi River in the east to the Rocky Mountains in the west and from the Gulf of Mexico in the south to the Canadian border in the north. The United States bought this land from the French doubling the size of America at the time. The Treaty of Ghent was signed by the British and the American representatives in order to end the war of 1812. The treaty stated that all concurred land be returned and a boundary set between the United States and Canada. -

The Monroe Doctrine was a statement made by James Monroe that stated that if any European nations tried to colonize land or interfere with the Sates, it would require U.S intervention and would be considered an act of aggression.
