Nat Turners Rebellion
In August of 1831 a slave named Nat Turner brought an uprising to stand up against slavery. He and a estimated 70 others killed 60 white farming familys before finally being 55 of them were captured, tried, and executed. This brought a uproar to many slaves who heard about the event. -
Ending of the Mexican War
With the ending of the war and new territories being gained rose the question whether or not they are lave free or pro slave. This later lead to the compromise of 1850 which declared the slave free or pro slave. -

The compromise of 1850 was a deal made that prohibited slavery in newly founded areas. But also it strengthened the power of the fugitive slave act, which stated how if a runaway slave was in the north, they were forced to return them to there original area. -
