    The Fugitive Slave Act required people who found escaped slaves to turn them into their owner. It was made because by 1843 several hundred slaves had escaped their owners and went North. The biggest issue in the Election of 1860 was slavery.     The Battle of Shiloh was also known as the Battle of Pittsburg Landing. It was between the Army of Tennessee with General Ulysses S. Grant and the Confederate Army of Mississippi with General Albert Sidney Johnston.
