    War between the British & the French over control of the Ohio River Valley. The British win and gain a lot of land, but it costs the country a large amount of money.
  • Treaty of Paris, 1763

    This officially ends the French & Indian War.
  • Pontiac's Rebellion

    This was a series of attacks by Native Americans on colonists in the frontier. These actions were the reason for the Proclamation Act.
  • Proclamation Act

    This proclamation of King George III stated that colonists were no longer allowed to move west of the Appalachian Mountains due to Native American attacks.
  • Sugar Act

    Tax place on molasses and sugar
  • Quartering Act

    This required colonists to pay for housing and food of the British soldiers that were located in North America.
  • Stamp Act

    This was a tax placed on all printed goods.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    The colonists were irritated by the Stamp Act, so they created a Congress to come up with a plan of action to show their displeasure.
  • Declaratory Act

    This act simply stated that Parliament & the king had the right to pass whatever acts and/or taxes they deemed necessary. It was also on this day that the Stamp Act was repealed.

    This was a tax on glass, lead, paper, paint, & tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Colonists were throwing snowballs at soldiers. Soldiers retaliated by open firing. Five colonists were killed.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Sons of Liberty were upset over the Tea Act. They plan a protest by throwing British tea into the Boston Harbor.

    These acts were passed on the colonists as a punishment for the Boston Tea Party
