    homer

    Homer was a Greek poet who was very important at this time. His appearance was not known but was well assumed. He wrote the Odyssey which was told orally and the morals were used by the Greeks.
  • 799 BCE

    greek cities

    Greek cities were called polises and were similar to what we would consider the twin cities. Certain cities would use different government forms such as Democracy, tyranny, and Olagaricy. Theses polis would colonize one another and become a bigger polis.

    The Persian Empire expanded after concerning the Babylonians in 539 BCE

  • 498 BCE

    persian war

    Persians wanted more land, they decided to go to war with Greece. Persia lost the war and Greece won, this caused a large percent of there army. Greece also gained some territory from the aegen sea which was priorly owned by persia.
  • 431 BCE

    Peloponnesian war

    The Peloponnesian war took place in Greece. It started when the Spartans felt threatened by Athens so the Spartans attacked. The Athens won the war and were left with more freedoms.
