Zheng He takes his First Voyage
Zheng He traveled around the Indian ocean during his first voyage. His main goal was to bring people back to kao tao to the ruler. His purposes for explration were very different than most explorers. He sailed extremely large ships, with hospitals and zoos! He had a fleet of many ships. -

Prince Henry founds his First Navigation School
This school opened in Sagres, Portugal. Prince Henry's school helpded shape the way for Portuguese explorers. Many Portuguese sailor were scared of the ocean, either becuase of monsters or crazy winds. Prince Henry got those ideas out of his sailors minds. His main purpose was god. -

Ming China adopts isolationist policy following Zheng He’s seventh voyage
Ming China adopted this policy mainly becuase of trade. Because private tried was illegal, this act made smuggling goods across borders much more common. Ming China decided to enforce this policy becuase they thought as if they had everything they needed - they were the best. -

Christopher Columbus lands in Hispaniola
Columbus made it to the Americas thinking that he was in India. He had miscalculated and didn't know that American existed. He used a tactic called dead reckoning to know where he was. When he got back from his voyage, he was convinced that he had reached India. Maps show that Zhang he was probably the first person to make it to America. -

Spain and Portugal sign the Treaty of Tordesillas
The Treaty of Tordesillas was an imaginary line that seperated new territories between Portugal and Spain. Spain and Portugal both wanted an equal share, but things were getting heated, so Pope Alexander VI had to step in. The line ran along the east tip of South America. -

Vasco da Gama reaches India
He went around the Cape of Good Hope to get to India. He brought back spices, silk, and other things. De gama was the first person to get to India, using a route through the Atlantic Ocean. He sailed for the Portuguese. -
Tokugawa Ieyasu becomes shogun of Japan
Ieyasu finished uniting Japan, carrying on the legacy of his predecessors. He used to be a prominent Daimyo. He led Japan during feudal times. One of the many important things he did was close of Japan. They were so nervous, they allowed an island called Dejima to be inhabited by the non japanese. If you wanted to trade, all deals would have to be done on the island. -
Manchus establish Qing Dynasty in China
The Manchus invaded China in 1644, and had conquered all of the land in 1680. They allowed the Chinese to keep some of their traditions. They gained trust and support.
