Ryanair first launched in 1985 with a aircraft that had 15 seats in it. The company then got themselves a licence a year later so that they were able to fly from Dublin to London. This was the start of the low cost airlines journey to success. -

In 2001 9/11 had happened which were 4 places crash into 3 different buildings but the main buildings they crashed into were the Twin Towers and this had killed hundreds of people as the towers had collapsed and then this made many people afraid of flying and made security more strict. -

On the 26th of December 2004 a Earthquake and Tsunami hit the coast of Sumatra Island and Indonesia. This Tsunami was otherwise known as the Boxing day Tsunami and it had made many people afraid of flying just in case a disaster like this happens again. -

In 2010 the launch of Instagram had begun. This is a free app where people post photos of the places they go and the things they do. The app allowed you to follow people and with people seeing other people post the different places they visit, it makes them want to visit more places. -

In 2010 the TripAdvisor app was launched on iPhone which let people look at any holiday packages they wanted and book them there and then. This made it easier to go on holiday so more and more people decided to do it. -

In 2018, there were 47 million international vacations. More and more individuals are boarding aeroplanes and taking vacations as the years pass. -

COVID-19 otherwise known as Coronavirus had stopped tourism massively as everyone was becoming ill and there had even been a lot of deaths causing everywhere to go into lockdown and stopping everyone from travelling.
