Columbus "discovers" America
On Columbus's first voyage to Asia, he got lost. He then found and discovered America. -
Jamestown Colony created
The Virgina Company explorers landed on Jamestown Island to establish the Virgina English colonly on the banks of the James River. -
Massachusetts Bay Colony Created
The flagship of the Massachusetts Bay Company arrived in Salem to officially found the new colony. The company was founded by English Puritans. Eleven ships brought hundreds of settlers to Salem. -
New Amsterdam becomes New York
Dutch govenor surrenders New Amsterdam to English. In 1673, there was a short interruption of English rule when the Netherlands temporary regained the settlement. New York was returned to the English. -
Albany Congress meets
Benjamin Franklin started the plan of the Albony Congress to solve problems with the Colonists. Twenty-three delegates of the congress would meet in Albany, New York from June, 19 to July 11, 1754. -
George Washington assaults Fort Duquesne
The battle of Fort Duquesne was a British assualt on the eponymous french fort (later the site of Pitts.) that was repulsed with heavy loses on September 14th, 1758, during the French and Indian War. There were 6000 to 8000 British horses including a condingeng Virginans lead by George Washington. -
The French & Indian War concludes
The war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris.
