  • The battle of Cripple Creek

    The battle of Cripple Creek
    150 Mines came to Cripple Creek after gold was discovered. The Free Coinage Union No. 19 also came with the mines. When more workers came the mine owners lengthed the work days but didn't change the pay. Owners allowed the workers to work shorter days but they got a 50 cent pay deduction if they did. Miners went on strike and an anti-union general came in and arrested union leaders.
  • McKees Rock Strike

    McKees Rock Strike
    At Mckee Rocks there were deaths daily. The bosses would push the bodies over and put a living worker in the older workers spot. Making the new worker work over a dead body. The foremen would decide on the workers pay which is what made the workers go on strike.
  • Norris-LaGuardia Act

    Norris-LaGuardia Act
    Didn't allow employers to not hire employees that don't agree to not join a union.Employees can join unions without interference. Federal court couldn't prevent strikes.

    Helped poverty by offering old age, survivor, disability benefits. Workers compensation was added. Health insurance was added.
  • Fair Labor Standards Act

    Fair Labor Standards Act
    It added the minimum wage. Made overtime pay time and a half. Stopped most child labor.
  • The Great Postal Strike

    The Great Postal Strike
    Postal workers had 8 different unions. All the unions were not able to decide on their wages. Congress only raised the workers wages by 5.4% which made the workers walk off their jobs.
