  • The Battle of Cripple Creek

    The Battle of Cripple Creek
    Cripple Creek is known mostly for their battles that workers fought for to earn their rights. During this event they found gold. Later a strong miner union was formed. They called this the Free Coinage Union. Earning your rights is a big deal when it comes to making a living.
  • The Pullman Strike

    The Pullman Strike
    Factory workers at the Pullman Palace Car Company walked out in protest after working some days as 12 hour work days. These people then protested. Later they were joined by another group, that did not coroperate like they were intended to. Resulting in that was 250,000 joining the others on strike. This strike shut down even some transportation through out the city.
  • Steel Strike

    Steel Strike
    This strike was organized because of poor working conditions, long hours, low wages, and harrasment involving the union. So many strikers joined that half the steel industry was on strike. It was around 350,000 strikers. This resulted in union absence in the steel industry for the next 15 years.
  • Railroad Shopworkers Strike

    Railroad Shopworkers Strike
    This strike started because of the railroad workers wages was lowered 7 cents. Therefore 400,000 railroad workers in the union went on strike. When this happened they hired a bunch of nonunion workers to fill in those open positions, which was a lot at the time. Later the strike was ended because a federal judge was persuaded to ban all strike related activities.
  • Norris-Laguardia Act

    Norris-Laguardia Act
    Could not prohibit workers from joining a union. Banning yellow dog contracts. "Full Freedom of Association" is what they would say Labor Unions should have. This act preventing injunctions to strikes, picketing, and boycotts.
  • The Wagner Act

    The Wagner Act
    Workers right to form union and this act is strike protected. This act created the National Labor Relations board. Basic rights for private sectors of employees. This act not letting employers to get in between the workers.
  • National Labor Relations Act

    National Labor Relations Act
    This act protecting the right of employees and employers. Guarenteed workers the right to join unions. This act besically allowed workers to join/ work for whoever they wanted without fear of management reprisal.
  • UPS Workers Strike

    UPS Workers Strike
    Largest strike of the 1990s was 185,000 UPS team workers. They wanted full time jobs rather than part time and also the increase in wage. The UPS workers gained a lot of support from the public. They ended up getting what they wanted. The loss of this union doing this would be 600 million in business was not gained because of the whole ordeal.
