The Zollverein was a customs union to eliminate tarrif barriers. It left a positive effect on Germany, and it benifited its memebers. It beneifted by making prices both lower and more uniform. It also led to the industiralization of German states by providing wide, free markets for German goods and by offering tariff protection against foreign competiton. -
William I became king of Prussia
William I, emperor of Germany and king of Prussia. I feel like he left a positve effect on Germany because he strengthen the army and appoint Otto von Bismarck to be the head of the Prussian cabinet. -
Bismarcks "blood and iron" speech
Bismarck's "blood and iron" speech left a strong impression on people, but sometimes an unfavorable one. This was a negative effect on Germany because he insisted that the Prussian government continue to collect taxes even though Parliament had refused to approve the budget, and reorganize the army. -
The Danish War
The Danish war was between Denmark and Germany. The war was over two states, Schleswig and Holstein. It was sort of had a positive effect and a negative effect. It had a positve effect because after Denmarck surrendered Prussia and Austria got the two states. Then it was a negative effect because Prussia and Austria argued about the two states. But in the end they both each got to administer one of the states. -
The Seven~Weeks War
The Seven Weeks War also known as the Austro-Prussian war was between Austria and Prussia. This event was a positve effect on Germany because it gsve Prussia Holstein and that was just another state in the German Emperor. -
Battle of Sadowa
The Battle of Sadowa inspired a lot of liberals. This had a positive effect because it made liberals repent their sins. The liberals saw success beyond their wildest dreams and were anxious to cooperate. -

The Franco-Prussian War
The Franco-Prussian War was fought in 1870 and was provoked by Bismarck as the final step to unite Germany. Bismark altered a telegram that was sent to King William I from the French ambassador and caused a war between France and Prussia. This was a positive effect on Germany because the German Empire was expanded enormously. German had become the most powerful state in Eurpean history. -
The Imperial Proclamation of 1871
Bismark signed the 1871 Proclamation of the German Empire on Janurary 18. This left a positve effect on Germany because their German Empire was expanded. -
