Operation Rolling Thunder was a plan made from the United States that was a long program of bombing North Vietnamese. They started by only hitting military bases but eventually moved to civilian targets. -
Tet Offensive
Tet is a Buddhist holiday. On that day in 1968 80,000 Vietcong troops left their tunnels and attacked everyone in South Vietnam. Later that month the South Vietnamese had captured all the lost land with the help of the United States. -
Invasion of Cambodia
The country of Cambodia was a neutral country between the two. The United States still decided to invade. They bombed all the Viet Cong bases that were located along the trail. -
Invasion of Laos
Laos was also a neutral country between the two sides of Vietnam and United States. Americans were not happy with the decision of their President Nixon. -

Push for Peace
In December President Nixon tried to push the North Vietnamese into the peace table by bombing cities such as Hanoi. In January they reached a cease fire and removed all the troops. President Nixon knew that South Vietnam could not hold down the fort. -
End of the War
North Vietnam attack South Vietnam and they captured the town of Saigon. They brought an end to the war and the country of Vietnam was considered communist.
