    On this date, the Declaration of Independence took place in order to show that the colonies were separated from British rule. The document contained rights and government structure.

    The ratification of the Constitution required 9 states to approve it. On this date the 9th state approved it, establishing our Constitution.
  • Beginning of George Washington's Presidency

    Beginning of George Washington's Presidency
    George Washington was the first president of the United States after separating from Britain. On this date his presidency began and later ended March 4, 1797.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    Louisiana Purchase
    The Louisiana Purchase was an acquirement of land that doubled the size of America. This territory was West of the Mississippi RIver and was bought from France.
  • War of 1812

    War of 1812
    The War of 1812 was a war between Great Britain and America due to conflict with oceanic trade. This war ended in 1815 when a treaty was signed.
  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    The Missouri Compromise was a compromise to have balance between slave and non-slave states. This compromise stated that Missouri was a slave state and Maine was not.
  • Indian Removal Act

    Indian Removal Act
    The Indian Removal Act was a set to relocate Native Americans that were living east of the Mississippi River. This act led to forced removal and the natives which led to the Trail of Tears.
  • Texas Annexation

    Texas Annexation
    The Texas Annexation was the joining of Texas to the U.S. This caused tensions between Mexico and America which leads to the Mexican-American War.
  • Mexican-American War

    Mexican-American War
    The Mexican-American War began due to conflict from the Texas Annexation. The war ended with the U.S winning and gaining many territories such as California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada.
  • Compromise of 1850

    Compromise of 1850
    The Compromise of 1850 was set in order to decrease tensions between slave and non-slave states which led to a fugitive slave law. The compromise also led to popular sovereignty in some territories in order to allow the people to decide on slaves.
