February 1965
President Johnson orders bombing in North Vietnam. This shows more involvement in the U.S military on Vietnam. -
March 1965
President Johnson orders continuous bombing in North Vietnam for 3 years. Also the Ho Chi Minh trail. -
July 1965
President Johnson calls for 50,000 more ground troop and that raises the draft rate by 35,000 each month. This shows all of the troops being sent over to Vietnam and the U.S is fully involved with this war now, -
August 1965
5,500 U.S marine strikes against the first Viet Cong regiment. More troops are being sent to handle Vietnam this is showing more action from the United States. -
November 1965
Nearly 300 Americans are killed in the first large scale battle in Vietnam in the battle of la Drang valley. This shows how the United States was involved with the war and some of there soldiers died while fighting. -
Beginning of 1966
The total number of troops rises in Vietnam to 400,000. This shows that the U.S was drafting more soldiers into Vietnam. -
June 1966
American aircraft attack some of the first cities in North Vietnam. The Aircraft bomb the cities and America is bringing more aircraft then they were before. -
Beginning of 1967
U.S troop numbers in Vietnam raise to 500,000. The United States wants to show that they over power Vietnam by doing all of this. -
February 1967
The U.S aircrafts bomb Haiphong Harbor. They also bomb the North Vietnamese airfields. This is showing all the military action possible by the United States in order to stop Vietnam.
