    The Pilgrims came to to America to find a new life, and freely practice their religion, after fleeing England. The Pilgrims came on the Mayflower, and arrived at Plymouth unexpectedly after a voyage of 2 months.

    The king is in debt from the wars, so he taxes the colonist for every piece of paper used. The colonist refused to buy stamps, and attacked the tax collectors homes, and the king canceled the act.

    Because the British troops had no where to stay, the colonists has to house the troops, and provide for them. NY decided not to pass any funds for the troops, and the government suspended the colonists assembly's.

    The American Revolution was a war that allowed America to gain independence from Britain. This was the birth of the United States. After the war the colonist were able to create a democratic government, the first of its kind.

    The Townshend Act
    Because there is still debt from the war, the colonist get taxed on certain goods being imported to them, such as glass, paper, candles, ect. The colonists protested, and boycotted, and bought resources from America, and grew their own food. The troops were sent over, and the assembly's were removed.

    The Boston Massacre was a big fight that happened on King Street. The colonist were tiered of the unfair taxes, so they got rilled up, and they fought for their independence form then the British.

    The First Continental Congress had representatives from alll of the 13 colonies.They met up to discuss challenges, such as how to protest, without bloodshed, and they decided to boycott, and they placed sanctions on nonimiportion of British goods.

    The Tea Act was when the British, and the East India Company agreed that the company could ony sell to the British, and the British could only buy tea from that company. Because the tea was expensive, and taxed, the colonists rebelled, and started sneaking Dutch tea, and they threw the tea in the water to ruin it.

    The colonists were protesting about taxes, especially on tea. They would't purchase the tea, and destroyed boxes of tea by throwing they into the water making the tea useless. This showed that they could stand up to the british, and could provide for themself, and be independent.

    The intolerable (Coercive) Acts is the 4 continuous laws that were passed from the British to the Colonists to get back at the colonist for the Boston Tea Party. These laws were shutting down the harbor, the government act, the Quartering act, and the Justice act. These laws were passed to show the British still is in power.

    The book Common Sense by Thomas Paine is a pamphlet talking about how they don't have freedom and the British is just using the colony to have power and money. The exert talks about how America should rule Britain and not the other way around. Thomas is trying to get people on his side to rebell.

    In order to avoid bloodshed, the colonist asked the king to sign the petition that would result in more peace. This petition asks that the ing stops the deaths of murder amon the colony's to keep them safe. The olive branch is a symbol of peace.

    The colonist hid their weapons from the british, who were trying to take them. The British left to fight at Meriams corner, showing unity against the British tyranny. The British returened to Lexington colonists seeking revenge and attacked the British, showing streangth and power.

    The Declaration of Independence was a document written by Thomas Jefferson and signed by America's founding fathers stating America's independence from Britain. Although it was technically not legally binding, it was very powerful to the American people.

    The Whiskey Rebellion was an aggressive protest against taxing Whiskey. The Whiskey Rebellion aka The Whiskey Insurrection was a protest against taxing whiskey. This was the first tax made by the new U.S. government. Taxing whiskey was Hamiltons Idea, so the government could pay off debt. This went form 1791, and 1794.The people were fighting back, so the government sent troops to enforce the law. The rebellion ended after the tax was taken away.

    The XYZ Affair took place in 1797 and 1798, while John Adams was president. An disagreement took place between the U.S., and France, which caused the "Undeclared war with France" aka, the Quasi-War. This war is important, because it led to the Civil War.

    The War of 1812 is a war, that had no winner, and lasted 2 years. This was was declared by the U.S., and was fought to show that the U.S. is independent and deserves respect. By fighting this was the U.S. earned respect form both countries.
