Westward Expansion
The Westward expansion era was a time where the US wanted to expan westward and take over new land. During this time to promote this idea and to make people do it so they could claim more land, they started selling the land for an extremly cheap price. Although expanding was good, what they did to expand was terrible, by this i mean they would force the indians to move to a specific area called a reservation. -
Farmer
As a farmer and with new land in the west being found, i have decided to move westward in hopes of a great living. I hope to find a better living and meet new people. I plan to begind growing differnt crops for what im custom to. Hopefully the terrain is good enough for me to even be able to live of the food scources ill be making. Plus the land is being given for super cheap so I had to jump on the opprituinity and take the chance. Hopefully it turns out good here in oklahoma. -
Great Plains
The terrain i live in is called the great plains, its apart of nebraska. It is a broad expanse of flat land. The conditions are terrible for growing any crops. I have had to resort to growing wheat, which isnt that bad. Although I did choose to move here myself i wish i chose a place more engaging in secenery. This place is quite boring. But all isnt bad since i got the land for cheap. -
Wheat
Today i found a new crop called wheat. A friend that i encountered while being here gave me some of its seeds. He told me its a great crop to grow in the conditions that we have to live in. Its easy to grow. I can also grow it in mass quantities since its a abundant crop. Maybe I can make some money off of it. -
George A. Custer
While in town i met a famous general.His name was George A, Custer. He is a officer of the United States Army. He says he plans to lead a battle at LittleBighorn against the indians. I dont see why we have these problems with the indiands because they were here first.We should be more considerate to them, even if they are agressive and dont like us. We could always try to negotiate and become peaceful. -
Dawes Act
Today the government announced a new act called the dawes act. Itauthorized the President of the United States to survey American Indian tribal land and divide it into allotments for individual Indians. Those who accepted allotments and lived separately from the tribe would be granted United States citizenship. I dont see this as being fair to the indiands. Mostly because the indians were here first and we shouldnt be treating them like this. They are People too even if we are not alike.
