  • Treaty of Paris

    The Treaty of Paris was signed in Paris by both King George III and representatives of America. The Treaty ended the American Revolutionary War.
  • Sugar Act

    Parliment pased a modified version of the sugars and molasses act. Colonial merchants were forced to pay a 6 pence tax on imported molasses.
  • Proclamation Act

    The Proclamation Act was issued by Great Britian following the acquisition of French Territory in North America. It forbade all settlement past a line drawn on the Appalachian Mountains.
  • Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act exacted revanue from the colonies by imposing a stamp duty on newspapers. It also was enforced on legal documents.
  • Quartering Act

    This forced the colonists to provide accomidations for any British soldier. This included them staying in your house.
  • Declaration of Grievances

    It said that taxes on the British colonists without formal consent was considerd unconstitutional. It was written by the Stamp Act Congress.
  • Stamp Act Congress

    The meeting took place in New York City from October 7th to the 25th. It was consisted of American and British representitives to devise a unified protest against British taxes.
  • Common Sense

    Common Sense was a book written by Thomas Paine. It inspired the colonists to declare war and fight Britian!
  • Stamp Act Repealed

    Parliment repealed the Stamp Act after the colonists boycotted British Goods. It used to force colonists to buy a stamp for every official document.
  • Declaratory Act

    The Declaratory Act lessened the Sugar Act. The Act said that Parliments authority was the same in America as in Britian.
  • Townshend Acts

    A series of Acts named after Charels Townshend. The purpose of these Acts was to raise revenue in the colonies to pay the judges so they would remain loyal.
  • Boston Massacre

    A Patriot mob was throwing snowballs, stones, and sticks at the British soldiers. The soldiers opened fire and many colonists died.
  • Committes of Correspondence

    Secret governments organized by the Patriots on the eve of the American Revolution. It was what kept them in communication before the war.
  • Tea Act

    The Tea Act is considered the final straw of a long list of acts and taxes imposed on the colonists. It led to the Boston Tea Party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Patriots disguised as Native Americans boarded British ships and dumped all of the tea on board. The British government responded harshly which led to the Revolution.
  • Intolerable Acts

    The Patriots nickname for a seires of Laws passed by the British. The laws were meant as a punishment for the Boston Tea Party.
  • 1st Continental Congress

    It was a meeting of 12 colonists from the 13 colonies. It went from September until October.
  • Lexington and Concord

    The Battle of Lexington and Concord was the first Military engagment in the Revolutionary War. A ragtag army of Patriots defeats 700 British soldiers.
  • Bunker Hill

    Most of the combat took place on Breed's Hill. The British did defeat the Patriots, but not before they inflicted many deaths.
  • Appeal to Reason Rejected

    Also known as the Olive Branch Petition, it was refused by King George the III. The document wanted to reconcile with both sides.
  • Declaration of Independance

    The document declaring the colonies seperation from England. It was signed by 53 people including Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson.
