Thomas Jefferson Becomes President

Apr 13, 1743

The third president of the United States.

Stamp Act

1765

The First internal tax against the colonist.

Tea Act

Revolutionary War

1775

This war was fought by the Americans and British. The Americans sought independents from Great Britain. Led by George Washington the Americans successfully defeated the British and claimed their independents.

Declaration of Independence

Jul 4, 1776

At this point the United States declared its independents from Great Britain.

George Washington Becomes President

1783

After showing his leadership and wisdom on the battle field as a general Washington was nominated to become the first president of the United States.

John Adams becomes president

Mar 4, 1797

After George Washington stepped down as the president Mr. Adams became the second president of the United States.

Slavery was abolished

Apr 27, 1848

Slavery was abolished, however the oppression of slaves still continued.
