    FDR, Stalin, and Churchill meet to discuss what to do with Gernmany and war criminals. They also discuss how to divide up Berlin into 4 zones. Poland and other Eastern European countries were arranged to have free elections (Unfulfilled promise).
  • Iron Curtain

    Iron Curtain
    Divided West and East Europe into 2 sides. The left side was capitalist and belonged to NATO while the right side was made up of commnunist satalliete states.
  • Truman Doctrine

    President Truman declares a statement that the U.S. will finanacially help and militarily defend any country under the threat of Communism. This statement was founded on a policy called "Containment" which aimed to contain Communism within the Iron Curtain. U,S. puts missles in Greece and Turkey
  • Marshall/Moltov Plan

    Marshall/Moltov Plan
    Policies set by the U.S. and USSR to rebuild their respective zones affected by WW2. Much of US money went to rebuild Germany, Britain, France. Italy to prevent the spread of communism. USSR funds went to Eastern European countries such as East Berlin, Poland, Czechoslovakia.

    Berlin Airlift videoStalin blockades the western zones of Berlin in an attempt to gain control of all of East Germany. US responds by arilifting supplies in over the wall to the inhabitants of the area.

    Mao Zedong's Communist forces win in a Civil War by using military strategy and a strong sense of nationalism. US responds with military bases in Japan, Phillipines and other Pacific bases.
