    The spanish american war wa a war to help cuba gain its independce from Spain. By blowing up the Maine it helped lead the Usa in to the war but it wasnt until April 24th spain offically declared war on America. Out of this Cuba got independce and the USA got Puerto rico, PHillipenes, and Guam.

    Hawaii became the 50th state in 1959. The reason we needed Hawii was because they had many sugar and pineapple plantations. But what started this process was that Hawii was annexed as a territory in 1898 which gave Sanford Dole the ability to become the governer.
