    Signed into law by President Abraham Lincoln on May 20, 1862, the Homestead Act encouraged Western migration by providing settlers 160 acres of public land. In exchange, homesteaders paid a small filing fee and were required to complete five years of continuous residence before receiving ownership of the land.

What this did was make it illegal to have bilingual educator programs, meaning all school instruction are to be taught in English. In order to teach students English they are required to participate in an English Immersion programs, which usually puts the students behind academically.

    The Secure Fence Act secured our borders. This mandated that more than 700 miles of double-reinfored fences would be build along the borders of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas in order to reduce illegal drug traffecting, and illegal immigration.
