Lying, cheating, and stealing are all examples of behaviors they may try as they learn how to negotiate the rules placed on them by society.They are highly active and need physical activity and peer approval. Often they want to try more daring and adventurous behaviors.

    They are highly self-conscious, while at the same time feeling powerful and invincible. They spend significantly more time with friends over family. They seek group membership at almost any cost, including acting cruelly to others outside the group. Mood swings and irritability are common.

    They are very concerned with their physical appearance and do not like parents to interfere with their independence. They are better able to resolve conflicts peacefully. Impulsive but can see how actions affect their future. Can make responsible decisions. Dating and sexual activities are common.
