  • Federalist Party

    Adams is president of this party. Believed in central government, educated, wealthy classes, should have the most power.
  • Anti-Fed Party

    Believed that the majority of normal, uneducated, people had the common sense to run a government.
  • Democratic Republicans

    Opposing federalists policies was becoming more popular. This party was led by Jefferson and were also known as the Jefferson Republicans.
  • Jacksonian Democrats

    Moving towards greater democracy for the common man. Andrew Jackson led this group.
  • The Party of Lincoln (repubs)

    Abraham Lincoln was the first leader of this party. Andrew Johnson became the only other leader of this group. Believed in national interest over sectional interests.
  • Roosevelt Democrats

    Great Depression affected a lot at this point in time. Mainly southerners and small farmers who organized labor unions.
  • Modern Republicans

    Conservative, tend to believe in tradition. Taxes should not be raised, against abortion, increase military spending.
  • Modern Democrats

    Liberal, open to change, decrease military spending, favor minimum wage, support abortion.
