The electronic TV was first successfully demonstrated in San Francisco. The system was designed by Philo Taylor Farnsworth, a 21 year old inventor who had lived in a house without electricity. -

The 1930s
Sets were large pieces of equipment with about 12 inch screens. They cost about $400 to $500. -
The 1940s
CBS pioneered a system which transmitted an image in each of the primary colors. A wheel with segments of red,blue and green rotated in front of the wheel. Though this TV did produce great pictures it had a few drawbacks. Such as flickering,low resolution and was not compatible with existing black and white broadcasting. -
The 1950s
the CBS version of the TV made adapters. Later, the FCC developed the RCA compatible system, commonly referred to as NTSC system.Then in 1953 the first color TV was sold for $1,295. It had a 15 to 19 inch sets and a 21 inch picture tube. -
The 1960s
A few surprising things that happened at this time was TV became a political force, TV journalism rose, TV reached a broader audience, the advent of the variety shows and TV began to tackle serious issues. -
The 1970s
Everyone saw that most Americans relied on television for their news and not the paper. The government saw that television was a powerful tool. Later became the decade where television news felt the true weight of government intervention, as embattled networks gallantly fought to preserve their independence. It was also the very first time the world series game was held on air and in the same year cigarettes were band from TV and radio. -
The 1980s
TVs began to control 80% of the market. -
The 2000s to the year 2017!
TVs have changed a ton. TVs first started out as an electronic TV soon with color. It was a box TV that weighed a lot, it was big and was very pricey. As you can see now, most TVs are flat screened,weigh a lot less and are a lot cheaper. Modern TVs also has many brands of TVs to choose from.
