    Head of the family got 200 acres and other family members added 50 acres and slaves added 50 acres and colonists could only get up to 1000 acres. Helped Georgia grow in population and helped the economy grow

    University of Georgia
    The University of Georgia was the very first public universty in the United States and was meant so that poor income people could go to college. This helped GA grow, because more students came to it and ended up staying.
  • Louisville

    Louisville
    served as georgias third capital from 1796 to 1807 and had major cash crops such as tobacco and then later cotton. Merchants brought commercial trade to the capitol and business boomed.
  • Cotton Gin

    Eli Whitney invents the cotton gin which is a machine that pulls the seeds out of the cotton balls alot faster than picking them by hand. This caused land owners to buy alot more slaves to man the cotton gins and alot more economic growth, because of the tons of cotton being sold and bought.
  • Yazoo Land Fraud

    Yazoo Land Fraud
    Several land companies bribed legislators to let them buy 35 million acres for about 1and a half cents an acre. Colonists were outraged by this scandal and voted out the legislators.
  • Land Lottery

    The land lottery was just like any lottery. They put lot numbers in on barrel and names in another a lot number was pulled and a name was pulled and bingo its that persons land. It affected Georgia, because sometimes people were already living on the property that someone had won in the lottery and this caused some land owners to get angry.
  • Railroads

    Railroads
    Trains and railroads were brought to georgia. This decreased the need for horses, carriages, and other land travel options.
  • Georgia Baptist Convention formed

    Georgia Baptist Convention formed
    Brought all the different baptist forms together as one they did this by having a convention. This caused alot of people to come to georgia and some of them thought that it would be nice to stay and live here.
