    The invention of the light bulb, was revolutionary. It allowed good light after dark, instead of depending on a torch, or a kerosene lamp. It made work hours longer, because work didn't have to start when the light went away

    The Tenement Act of 1901 paved the way for modern apartments. It was the first law to put safety regulation in apartment building. It was first passed in New York, and quickly spread through the Nation, so people could have safer places to live.

    The Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe doctrine is significant, because it basically says that the US has the right to go down to our neighbors in the south and fix their problems whenever we see fit. It made those countries very uneasy about the US.

    The pure food and Drug Act, insured that companies couldn't advertise what was not in their product. The Meat Inspection Act made sure that rotten, gross meat was not getting bought by people and eaten, because it was advertised as fresh.

    The Assassination of the archduke Ferdinand is the event that started WWI, it really did not have anything to do with any country other then Austria. He was killed by a terrorist group, but because of rising tensions in Europe, and alliances, everyone ended up going to war.

    The opening of the Panama canal allowed for much easier, faster, and cheaper shipping of goods by boat. It cut the travel time in half, instead of going around the southern tip of South America, you just cut through Panama, right between Central, and South America.

    Women getting the right the vote, was revolutionary. Women had been, and still are frighting for equal rights. This gave women a foot in the door to being involved in their countries government.
