    Who? Chinese nationalists vs. Chinese communists
    What? A military power struggle for control between Chinese nationalists and communists
    When? Ends in 1945
    Where? China
    Why? China was divided into three different regions and were pitted against each other. Both racial and political tensions deeply divided them.
    Signifigance? This event was another war that would expand or contain the two different idealogies of communists and democracist. In the end the communists prevailed.

    Who? Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin, Franklin Delano Roosevelt
    What? A wartime meeting to discuss Germany's surrender and to plan post-war world life. Also to set up the four conquered zones in Berlin.
    When? The last meeting was in April of 1945 (there were two meetings)
    Where? The first meeting was in Yalta Russia and the second was in San Francisco, U.S
    Why? To go over plans and ensure agreements of the post-war world
    Significance? Emphasized the division of Berlin the main battleground

    What? Negotiate terms for the end of World War II
    When? Ends August 2, 1945
    Where? Potsdam, Germany
    Why? To continue discussions that occurred at the Yalta Conference. As well as to reinforce the Axis powers commitment in the Pacific, reconstruction throughout Europe, and how to handle Germany
    Signifigance? Created tand further divided the U.S and USSR because of the use of the Atomicbomb

    What? A speech to the students of Westminster College addressing how the Soviet sphere of influence and how Central and Eastern European countries are under control from Moscow.
    Where? Fulton, Missouri
    Why? To condemn Soviet policies in Europe
    Signifigance? Created sort of a deep feeling in westerners to put an end to communism

    What? The U.S helps the crumbling economies in Turkey and Greece by giving $400 million in military and economic assistance.
    When? Ends development June 12,1948
    Where? Washington, D.C
    Why? The U.S has been following Soviets pressure in advances on Turkey and Greece. After the U.K said they would not aid the economies any longer the U.S stepped up. So it was pretty much keeping Turkey and Greece from becoming Soviet states
    Signifigance? Less isolated U.S foreign policy

    Who? All European countries with the Western Powers
    What? Major reconstruction of ravaged western European countries
    Where? Harvard University
    Why? To rebuild Europe fueled by the fear of communist expansion and rapid deterioration of European economies during winter
    Signifigance? Democratic Western countries did not want communists to capitolize on the damaged countries

    What? An alliance to promote and ensure democracy, human rights, security, and development in the western hemisphere
    Where? Washington, D.C
    Why? To keep peace and security in the Western Hemisphere and to provide for collective security
    Signifignace? Further ensures the safety of democtatic ideals in the Western Hemisphere

    What? An airlift of food and fuel over to Berlin
    When? Ends May 5, 1949
    Where? Berlin, Germany
    Why? The Soviets blockaded rail and road from Western Germany to Eastern Germany cutting off resources to Allied controlled areas of Berlin
    Signifigance? Sort of like an attack, however no one was harmed. Deepened tensions between the two superpowers

    What? The North Atlantic Treaty Organization that says any attack on its signatories is an attack on all.
    When? Still exists today with 25+ members
    Where? Washington D.C
    Why? To contain and prevent further spreading of communism.
    Signifigance? Procteded the ideals of western democracies and created an alliance to combat the expansion of communism

    Signifigance? Allowed the soviets to have "back up" similar to how NATO was, and protected Soviet ideals
