Triple Alliance Never Forms
Germany and Austria-Hungary form the Dual Alliance, however they never expand to include Italy because they do not see Italy providing any beneficial resources. Germany and Austria-Hungary continue their alliance, but break apart because it is harder to resolve arguments. -
Triple Entente Never Forms
Since the Triple Alliance didn't last long, the urgency to create an opposing side (Triple Entente) never existed. The Triple Entente did not have the build up of Germany's army to worry about, and therefore France, Great Britain, and Russia never agree to support eachother in war. -
Conflict Spreads
Although there aren't two distinct groups to fall into, this makes it easier for each individual country to fuel more animosity against eachother and try to prove one's power over the other. Tsar Nicholas II only sends army forces into Austria Hungary because they want to deal with one country at a time. -
Assassination of all major leaders
The chaos of countries trying to conquer the other continue, and on July 20, 1914 Germany executes their plan to assasinate the major leaders of neighboring countries to prove their growing military power. They feel as if this would confirm the extent of their power and threaten other countries. -
Plan Backfires
Germany's plan backfires, and instead makes everyone team up against Germany's agressive military tactics. This leads to a domino effect of reasons for other countries to focus on destroying Germany's army and power. -
Battle of Germany
France, Great Britain, Russia, etc. plan an attack in Germany in hopes of gaining up on the "bully" and trying to remove the threat that could ruin any possible solution for peace amongst the nations. Germany is caught by surprise and suffers the long term consequences that follow. -
Victory leads to peace
Once Germany is defeated, the winning side realizes that there is nothing to gain by going against eachother because the victory in Germany proved that they didn't want to live in fear of countries gaining up one individual country. Therefore, they decide to focus on improving and expanding their own country instead of creating problems in other countries. -
Lusitania never sinks
Because of the peace treaty, new military strategies aren't created, and furthermore Britain does not blockade ports to prevent weapons from being traded. Germany doesn't institute submarine warfare, and never implements methods to throw Britain off, by sinking the Lusitania. -
Zimmermann Telegram Doesn't Exist
Considering the U.S. were never angered because Americans did not die in the sinking of the Lusitania, and the "war" was resolved, the Zimmermann telegram never gets sent. It was the telegram that furrther pushed the U.S. involvement, but since there was never a need to send it, the U.S. never gets involved in any European affairs. -
U.S. Loans Money
With the U.S. Economy booming and not having to suffer any war reparations, U.S. helps individual countries who lost money and resources from their previous battles by loaning money with the intention of gaining it back with interest. This money helps each country to grow as a nation, and produces a more level playing field of what can be sold for trade amongst eachother.
