Berlin Conference
This was a meeting held in Berlin were all the main European countries peacefull divided Africa. No African leaders participated in this conference which made it unfair. They banned slavery as a name although it didn't really disappear. -
The Aiplane
Orville and Wilbur Wright created the first airplane that could rise itself with his own power, fly and then decend without trouble. They gained their experience since they worked with motors motocycles, bycicles, etc. This is an important step in technological advances because it is a more efficient way of transporting things and individuals from places to places. It improves the economy and the globalization. -
Assassination of Archduke Franz Fedinand
Archduke Franz Fedinand was he leader of Austria-Hungary and was assassinated by the Serbian Nationalists. This was due to the fact that he wanted to gain control over territories that had a lot of Serbian population. The assesination strengthened the tension between Austria-Hungary and Serbia which eventually lead to WW1 after a lot of other countries got involved with the issue. -
The February Revolution
This one of the two revolutions that changed the course of Russia. In this revolution the protesters accomplished to bring down Russia's monarchy (with Czar Nicholas II in charge) and stablish a Provisional Government. In woman's day thousands of women went to the streets and demanding for food, for the current government to go away and for the war to end. Short after both men and women were protesting causing Czar to abdicate in March 2. -
The October Revolution
This revolution was lead by the Bolsheviks and thought by Lenin. Lenin thought that it was time for a new revolution, so in October 25 of 1917 the revolution began. Short after places such as the telegraph, power station and train stations were under Bolshevik control, barely using weapons. Then they infiltrated the Winter Palace and took control of Russia with minimal amounts of blood sheded. He made good promises for the people, but unfortunately didn't keep up to them, causing the civil war. -
Drop of the Atomic Bomb
This bomb was dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the orders of the new president Harry S. Truman. Before this happened, Truman had already sent a warning to the Japanese, but they didn't care. After the bomb testing in New Mexico, the USA dropped the bomb in Japan as a nessesary move, according to the USA, in order to stop World War 2. This atomic bomb caused millions of deaths, but eventually caused the war to finally com to an end. -
The Cuban Missile Crisis
This has been the closest the world has come to facing a nuclear war. Both the Soviet Union and the US were fighting to see who had the better weapons. The Soviet Union missiles weren't capable of reaching the US, therefore they decided to put launching sites in Cuba, that was much closer to the US than the Soviet Union. This caused a lot of tension between both countries but due to both counties fear of a nuclear war, they decide to make a mutual "peace" agreement. -
Fall of the Berlin Wall
This event symbolizesde end of the war. This wall was built in order to divide the east and west Berlin. It was both built and destroyed rapidly. When the wall of Berlin was torn down many families were reunited and people could travel safely from one side to the other. -
Treaty of Versailles
This treaty was signed 5 years after the assasination of the Arch-Duke between the Allied powers and Germany after they finally decided to surrender. This treaty consisted on Germany returning their spheres of influences and forced to pay for the damages caused in the war. Additionally they couldn't do any offencive moves and its military was greatly reduced. This treaty was the spark of World War 2.
