1. Getting Ready To Leave
At 4:45 P.M on March 25, 1911 the workers in the Triangle factory were getting ready to leave early because it was Saturday. -
2. Lighting Cigarettes
At 4:40 P.M the workers had only 5 minutes until their work day was over. They did not follow the rules and started smoking in the Factory -
3. The Fire Starts
At around 4:43 the Triangle Factory Fire started. Nobody knows how, but people assume a lit cigarette inside buckets of scrap paper. -
4. The Fire Hose Is Not Connected
At around 4:44 the worker realize there is a fire and immediately run towards the hose. Unfortunately the hose had not been connected. -
5. The Fire Alarm Is Pulled
At exactly 4:45 P.M someone pulled the eighth-floor fire alarm. And in less than 2 minutes help in horse-drawn carriages showed up -
6. Ninth-Floor Stairway Locked
Some time during the fire. People on the ninth floor unfortunately found the door to the stairway locked. They had to find another way out -
7. Fire Fighters Arrived: But too Late
After the unfortunate event that happened on the ninth floor, the 'Hook and Ladder Company 20' arrived. They tried to use the ladder, but unfortunately was about 30 feet short. They also tried to save people when they jump, but it was useless. -
8. 'The Shower of Bodies'
As people on the floor were watching the fire up above. They started to see people saying good-bye to their loved and jumped. People screamed in disbelief and sadness as a whole bunch of bodies fell from the burning building. -
9. Rushing to the Roof
People on the tenth floor were very lucky because next to the Asch Building was the NYU building and the students there let them use a ladder to get from 1 roof to another -
10. Fire Is Gone
By 5:15 P.M the Fire Fighters had put out the fire completely. An hour later there was an inspection of the building. The building had no damage to its structure. It was fireproof!!
