Marco's father and uncle leave
They spend 9 years travelling to China, meeting Kublai Khan and travelling back. During this time Marco's mother dies and Marco is raised by an aunt and uncle. -

Birth
Marco Polo is born in Venice (now Italy). -
Feb 5, 1269
The first return
Marco's father and uncle return to Venice from China. Marco meets his father for the first time. Marco's father and uncle present a letter to the pope from Kublai Khan. -
Feb 8, 1271
Leaving Venice
Marco leaves Venice with his father and uncle. They carry a letter from the new pope to Kublai Khan in China. They travel through the HOly Land, and Persia. -
Feb 8, 1274
Arrival in China
After travelling for 3 years, the three Polos arrive in China and present the pope's letter to Kublai Khan. They spend the following 17 years serving the Khan in China. -
Feb 8, 1275
Envoy
Kublai Khan appoints Marco as an envoy. Marco travels throughout China doing the work of the Khan. -

Governor
Kublai Khan appointgs Marco as a govonor over a Chinese city. -
Feb 8, 1291
Leaving China
The Polo family leaves China to escort a Mongolian princess to Persia so that she may marry. They sail throughout South-east Asia and to the Middle East. -
Feb 8, 1295
Arrival in Venice
This is a map pof their travels all over Asia.The Polos arrive in Venice to a war between Venice and Genoa. They have travelled over 24 000 km. -
Feb 8, 1298
Imprisoned
Marco Polo is imprisoned by the Genoans. During this time, Marco told his story to a fellow prisoner who wrote down everything Marco said. The writings became a book called "Il Milione". It is also called " The Description of the World" and "The Travels of Marco Polo". -
Aug 8, 1299
Release
Marco Polo is released from prison. The book becomes well known all over Europe. -
Feb 8, 1300
Marriage
Marco Polo marries Donata Vitale Badoer and have three daughters. Their names are Fantina, Bellela and Moreta. -
Jan 9, 1324
Death
On this day Marco Polo dies at home with his family around him. He is burried the convent of San Lorenzo, Italy. -
