Indian Removal Act
Indian Removal Act was signed into law by Jackson in the year 1820. This act allowed state government to make treaties to buy Native American land. In the case of the Pottawatomi the Indiana government signed a treaty in 1836 to purchase all of their land at the price of $1 per acre.
