This document prevented European colonization in the western United States. The document was a major factor in the ideas of Manifest Destiny, as it paved the way for America to settle all of that land with no competition. -
"Influence of Sea Power Upon History"
History of naval power by Alfred Mahan. Said to be the single most influential book about naval forces in history. Some believe this book is what started the WW1 naval arms race. -

Series of Supreme Court cases that aided in deciding citizenship in the new colonies that were being settled. Congress would decide which laws would be in play in certain states. -
Platt Amendment
Treaty between the US and Cuba would protect Cuba from international forces. Permitted increased American involvement in Cuban financial and international affairs to protect their independence. -

US-supported Panama to create a Declaration of Independence from Colombia. -

Roosevelt Corollary
